When you have three very young children, you're constantly reminded of just how un-friendly we are to the environment. Number one, we've got diapers TIMES THREE. Well, in Nicole's case, they're pull-up's, but not much of a difference there. Number two (and probably numbers three, four & five) we've got wipes. Man, have we got wipes! A typical scenario is mommy trying to change one of the boy's diapers while the other one pulls wipe after wipe out of the dispenser. It's become a fun game, dodging mommy while she tries to change a dirty diaper and simultaneously keep the wipes where they belong in their dispenser. I do try and salvage all these errant wipes by storing them in a zip lock bag, which is unfortunately a waste of plastic. I have to admit, I have no idea what I ever did before I discovered wipes. They work for cleaning ANYTHING (except mirrors -- I've tried). They work well on carpet, car leather, wood floor, blankets, sippy cups and clothing. Anyway, I'm terribly sorry for the waste and I wish that wipes weren't so darned effective and convenient.
Who you callin' wasteful?
On another note, you know your child's tired when ... she's listening to Elmo, but watching The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on PBS. Before I gave Nicole a bath one night, I was cleaning up the kitchen and I thought I put on an Elmo DVD on tv. I heard Elmo, but little did I know that she was subjected to watching "one of the most distinguished sources of news on television." I guess I hadn't changed the tv input ... ooops! Come to think of it, Jim Lehrer does bear a striking resemblance to a furry red creature.
Thanks to Jim Lehrer, Nicole is up on her current events
